What We Build

Every Project. Done Right.

From full kitchen cabinetry to a single custom shelf — if it involves wood, we'll build it better than you expected.

Custom Cabinetry

Fully bespoke kitchen, bath, and storage cabinets built to your exact dimensions and style — solid hardwood or premium plywood, no particleboard.

Built-Ins & Bookcases

Floor-to-ceiling built-ins that look like they came with the house — entertainment centers, home libraries, mudroom lockers, and window seats.

Crown Molding & Trim

Architectural trim, crown molding, wainscoting, coffered ceilings, and door/window casings installed with obsessive precision and seamless miters.

Deck & Outdoor Structures

Decks, pergolas, trellises, and screened porches built from premium cedar, composite, or Ipe hardwood. Engineered for MN freeze-thaw cycles.

Rough & Structural Framing

Basement finishes, additions, room conversions, and structural repairs. We pull permits, frame it right, and leave a clean slate for the next trade.

Repairs & Restoration

Rot repair, door and window fixes, stair refinishing, hardwood floor repairs, and cabinet refacing — protecting the value of what you already have.

The Craftsman

Built by Erik. Done Once. Done Right.

"I don't use wood filler where a tight joint belongs. And I don't send a crew when the client expects me."

Erik Halverson started Halverson Woodcraft in 2002 after a decade apprenticing under a third-generation cabinetmaker in Duluth. He's the only person who measures your space, draws your plans, builds your pieces, and installs them — no relay race between departments, no surprises when your cabinets arrive.

His shop in St. Paul uses domestic hardwoods, no-added-formaldehyde plywood, and water-based finishes. Every drawer gets soft-close hardware. Every cabinet face frame is mortise-and-tenon joinery. Small details that add up to a finished product that outlasts the mortgage.

★★★★★

"Erik built us a full wall of custom walnut cabinets in our kitchen. The fit is absolutely perfect — not a single gap. Our whole family gathers around them every morning and we still catch ourselves stopping to admire the craftsmanship. Couldn't recommend more highly."

★★★★★

"We've used two other carpenters over the years — total headaches, surprise invoices, and shoddy work. Erik was completely different. Fixed price, showed up exactly when he said, and the built-ins look like they belong in an architectural magazine. We've already booked him for the basement."

Marcus T.
Stillwater, MN
★★★★★

"The crown molding and wainscoting Erik installed transformed our dining room from a plain box to something we're genuinely proud of. He even re-mitered a corner twice because the first cut was 'close enough but not good enough' — his words. That's the kind of person you want in your home."

Common Questions

Straight Answers.

Typically 4–8 weeks for larger custom builds, and 1–2 weeks for smaller repairs or trim work. We give you an honest timeline upfront and lock it in with a written start date on your contract.

Yes — if you've already sourced specific lumber, hardware, or materials you want us to use, we're happy to work with them. We'll inspect them first to confirm they're suitable and won't affect the warranty.

Standard is one-third to book materials, one-third at project start, and the final third on completion and your sign-off. We never ask for full payment upfront. We accept check, ACH transfer, or all major cards.

Yes. We handle all permit applications in your municipality, schedule inspections, and give you copies of the approved permit and final inspection sign-off for your records. This is included in your project quote.

Both. Our minimum project is $800. Anything from a single custom shelf to a full kitchen remodel. Smaller jobs often slot in quickly between larger builds, so don't hesitate to reach out regardless of scope.
